Bourne, MA-One dead, one badly wounded in Drunk Driving DUI Crash (10-18-09)

Bourne – An Attleboro man was apparently driving drunk when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed outside the Otis Rotary early yesterday morning and killed his stepfather and his mother seriously wounded, police said. The family was heading north on route 28 in Bourne after visiting a wedding, a police officer told a Cape Cod Times freelance photographer on the spot. Shortly after midnight, apparently Potrzuski Shawn, 32, of Attleboro ran his 2003 Dodge Durango off the road,crossed over Connery Avenue, in the woods and struck a tree, according to a state police news release. Speed is also believed to have contributed to the accident, police said. Robert Coffey, 46, of Attleboro – Potrzuski stepfather, as a soldier on the spot – rode in the back seat. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and taken to Falmouth Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, police said. His wife, Karen Coffey, 53, who sat infront seat, was also taken to Falmouth Hospital with serious injuries. Her condition was unavailable last night. Potrzuski were treated for minor injuries at the site. The police said Potrzuski and his mother were both wearing seat belts. Potrzuski arrested and charged with motor vehicle homicide, operating under the influence of alcohol, operating under the influence of alcohol causing serious bodily injury, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and speed.capecodonline.com
